New Floors and Floor Repairs Across Anne Arundel County

Handyman At Your Command handles flooring installation in Odenton, Maryland. We put down vinyl plank, laminate, hardwood and tile, and we repair the floors already in your home. We are a family-run company, licensed, bonded and insured, and we have worked in the DMV since 2008. A tech measures the rooms, checks how flat the subfloor is, and prices the job in person. Call (877) 349-4632 to set up a free estimate.

Most flooring jobs here run the same way. We look at what is under the old floor first. A soft or uneven subfloor shows through any new plank. Then we set a start line, lay the rows, and finish with transition strips and shoe molding. Furniture gets moved and appliances get pulled where we can. If the room is getting painted too, our interior painting crew can go in before the floor lands.

Vinyl Plank and Laminate Flooring Installation in Odenton Townhomes

Vinyl plank flooring installation and laminate flooring installation both usually float. The planks click together and sit on a thin underlayment instead of being nailed down. The floor has to be free to move. The wood flooring trade group tells installers to leave expansion space around the whole perimeter. The typical gap equals the thickness of the product. That group also says indoor relative humidity should stay between 30 and 50 percent year round. Wood swells and shrinks hard once that swing passes 20 percent. A humid summer and a dry heated winter both push on it. So the material sits in the room to acclimate before we cut a single plank.

Flatness matters as much as the planks. The same guidelines call for a subfloor flat to within 3/16 of an inch over 10 feet for glue-down work. We flatten high spots and fill low ones before the underlayment goes down. Odenton's housing is young, with a median build year of 1999, and about 35 percent of it is townhouses. Those stairs and open plans need transition strips at every doorway and stair noses on every tread. Landlords near Fort Meade also call us between tenants, since 6,700 of Odenton's 18,010 occupied homes are rented. A whole-unit floor swap moves fast when the rooms are empty.

Hardwood Floor Repair and Tile Floors

Hardwood floor repair usually comes down to a handful of boards. A dishwasher leak can ruin four or five of them while the rest of the room stays fine. We cut out the damaged boards, weave in new ones, and match the width and the run direction. Squeaks come from the subfloor moving against a joist, so we fasten it back down from above or below. Gaps that open every winter are the wood giving up moisture, and many close again by summer. At the estimate we tell you which gaps will close on their own and which boards have to come out.

We set tile floors in bathrooms, kitchens, laundry rooms and entryways. Backsplashes, shower walls, regrouting and cracked tile repair have their own tile installation page, and grout repair is a smaller job we take on its own. Cracked tiles get pulled and replaced, and the new grout gets color matched to the floor. Tile floors are part of most full bathroom remodels we build, and they show up in kitchen renovation work too. We take tile repair calls across Anne Arundel County and out to Ellicott City. Kumpenda Edith of Severn left a five-star Google review about that reach: "I used this Handyman service for over 8 years while living in Bethesda. I am now in Severn, MD. I was ecstatic to Google and find that they also service Anne Arundel County."

Subfloor Repair, Baseboards and What Floors Cost Per Square Foot

Floor repair often starts under the floor. A slow toilet or dishwasher leak turns the plywood soft, and the new floor shows every soft spot. We cut out the ruined subfloor, let the framing dry, and screw down new plywood. When the leak reached walls or a ceiling, our water damage repair service handles the demo and dry-out. New floors also change the height at the wall, so baseboard and shoe molding come off and go back on. Our trim and molding carpentry covers that part, plus trimming a door that now drags.

Published 2026 ranges give you a starting point. One national cost guide lists installed vinyl flooring at $2 to $22 per square foot. The same guide puts laminate at $3 to $13, hardwood at $6 to $25 and tile at $15 to $20. A second guide prices laminate at $6.91 to $11.81 per square foot and tile at $16.38 to $20.21. Those are national market numbers, and your price comes from the rooms in your house. Maryland treats flooring as licensed home improvement work. Our guide to Maryland home improvement license rules covers what that means for you. Call (877) 349-4632 and the estimate at your house is free.

How much does flooring installation cost per square foot?
Published 2026 ranges run $2 to $22 per square foot installed for vinyl and $3 to $13 for laminate. The same guide lists hardwood at $6 to $25 and tile at $15 to $20. A second guide prices laminate at $6.91 to $11.81. Those are market numbers, and your estimate is free.
How much does it cost to floor 1000 square feet?
Run the published per square foot ranges out to 1,000 square feet and you get the picture. Laminate lands near $3,000 to $13,000 and vinyl spans $2,000 to $22,000. Hardwood sits at $6,000 to $25,000 and tile at $15,000 to $20,000. Room shape, subfloor condition and how much old floor comes out all move the number.
How long does a flooring installation take?
A single room in vinyl plank or laminate is usually a one day job. A main level of 800 to 1,000 square feet runs two to four days. Tile takes longer, because thinset and grout need to cure between steps. Subfloor repair or old flooring removal adds time, and we flag that at the estimate.
Do I need to move out while you work?
You can usually stay in the house. We work room by room and keep a path open through the house. Furniture gets moved into a finished space or into the middle of the room. Kitchens and bathrooms are the ones to plan around, since the appliances or the toilet come out for a day. Tell us at the estimate.
Can you install new flooring over my existing floor?
Sometimes. It depends on what is down now and on the new product's instructions. Many floating floors can go over sound, flat vinyl or tile. A floor that is loose, cupped or hollow sounding has to come out first. We check what you have and read the manufacturer's rules before we give you an answer.
Should I repair or replace a damaged hardwood floor?
Repair wins when the damage sits in a few boards and we can match the width and species closely. Replacement makes sense when water reached a wide area or boards cup across the whole room. It is also the call when the boards are too worn to work with. We price both paths at the estimate.

Great customer service as well as great work quality. I had my fence bent down completely because of a storm and I called handyman at your command immediately. Even though it was after hours I still able to set up a time for someone to fix the fence first thing in the morning. The handyman was prompt and very nice.

I was finally able to get my master bath updated after 20 years of purchasing my home. Jose the owner of the company came out and held our hand from beginning to end. From demo to completion of the project, they always kept our home sparkling and clean which was a big deal for us as our child has respiratory issues.

Mine 2uGoogle review

I've been hiring Handyman At Your Command and working with Tracy for about 8 years now, and have always been completely satisfied and happy with their work. Recently we have had Hugo and Jose come out and they helped to find the source of a roof leak- then they repaired the ceiling drywall, painted, and also did other jobs around the house.
